Heavy upper eyelids are sometimes a brow problem. How surgeons tell the difference, and how to plan the procedure as a trip.
A brow lift raises the eyebrows and smooths the forehead, and is often assessed alongside upper eyelid surgery because a low brow can mimic eyelid excess. Approaches range from endoscopic techniques with small incisions in the hairline to longer incisions, chosen according to forehead height, hairline and the degree of lift needed.
The surgeon assesses brow position, forehead length and eyelid skin to decide whether the heaviness comes from the brow, the eyelid or both. Ask which applies to you and what each option would change; combining a brow lift with blepharoplasty is common but not automatic.
Ask whether an endoscopic or open approach is recommended, where incisions would sit relative to your hairline, how the hairline position would change and how the surgeon keeps the expression natural.
Clinics commonly describe swelling and bruising around the eyes and forehead settling over one to two weeks, with an early check-up. Ask about numbness or tightness in the scalp, hair washing and when flying is appropriate.
