Planning more than one plastic surgery consultation in Seoul

Use one brief for every clinic

Write down what you want to discuss, what you are uncertain about and the questions you want answered. Use the same brief when requesting each consultation so that differences in the replies are easier to understand. Ask each clinic which records or photographs it needs and how to send them through its designated channel.

• The procedure or concern you want to discuss, in your own words.
• Your available dates in Seoul and any fixed travel commitments.
• Your preferred language and whether interpretation needs to be arranged.
• The same core questions, with space to record each clinic's answer.

Confirm what each appointment actually includes

A requested time is different from a confirmed appointment. Keep the confirmation, clinic address and arrival instructions together. Ask who you will meet and whether the consultation includes time with the clinician, photographs, examinations or another visit. Confirm interpretation for that appointment rather than assuming one language arrangement covers every clinic.

• Who will I speak with, and is the clinician's availability confirmed?
• How much time should I allow for the complete visit?
• What should I bring, and is anything required before arrival?
• Will I receive the proposed next steps in writing, and who handles questions afterwards?

Leave room to travel, record answers and decide

Check the route between the actual clinic entrances, including building access and check-in. Ask each clinic how long to allow, then leave additional space for travel and notes. If the appointments cannot fit comfortably, ask about different days. Nearby addresses alone do not establish that two consecutive slots will work.

Keep an appointment list with a status beside each entry: requested, confirmed or awaiting clarification. Share changes with the next clinic and the interpreter or coordinator. A consultation booking does not confirm a treatment date; ask the clinic what further decisions or appointments are needed before arranging the rest of the visit.

Record answers in the same format

After each consultation, separate what the clinician proposed from what still needs an answer. Use the same headings for every clinic. This gives you a practical comparison record without relying on memory or treating different recommendations as if they were identical.

• Proposed approach: what was suggested and why the clinician suggested it for you.
• Alternatives and questions: what else was discussed and what remains unanswered.
• Visit requirements: further appointments, clinic-set follow-up and dates still to be confirmed.
• Communication: the contact person, available language and how to request clarification.
• Documents: the written proposal, instructions and other information the clinic has agreed to send.

If the recommendations differ, ask the clinicians to explain the differences before drawing a conclusion. Your coordinator can organise those questions and replies. The treatment decision belongs with you and the treating clinician, informed by the individual consultations.
