Why our guides don't quote procedure prices, and how to get a real number
Published price lists for plastic surgery in Korea mislead more than they inform. Why Beautinery's guides leave prices out, what actually moves a clinic's estimate, and the fastest way to get a number you can rely on.
The most common question about medical travel to Korea is what a procedure costs, and the honest answer is a range so wide that it says nothing. Our guides deliberately leave prices out. This post explains why, and how to get an estimate that is actually about you.
What a published price hides
A single number for a procedure assumes a standard patient, a standard technique and a standard clinic. None of those exist. The same procedure name can describe a forty-minute treatment under local anaesthesia or a three-hour operation under general anaesthesia with grafted cartilage. Prices you see online are often the entry-level version, quoted before anyone has examined you.
Korean clinics also differ in what the fee includes. One estimate covers anaesthesia, facility fees, follow-ups and medication; another lists each separately. Comparing two totals without knowing the inclusions compares nothing.
What actually moves the estimate
- The technique and materials the surgeon recommends after examining you, including whether previous surgery has to be revised.
- The type of anaesthesia and the operating time, which drive facility and anaesthesiologist fees.
- The aftercare the clinic bundles: dressing changes, swelling treatments, scar care, or nothing.
- The surgeon's seniority and the clinic's location and facilities.
- Whether procedures are combined in one session, which changes both the estimate and the recovery plan.
The rule we follow
Beautinery's guides describe what a consultation covers, what to ask and how a trip is structured, and never state a price. The treating clinic sets medical fees after an individual assessment and confirms them in writing. Our concierge coordination is quoted per case and shown separately from clinic, travel and optional costs, so you always see who is charging for what.
We also do not negotiate medical fees on your behalf. Fee decisions belong to the clinic, and a concierge pressuring a clinic on price creates the wrong incentive at the wrong moment. What we do is make sure every estimate you receive is complete, comparable and understood.
How to get a number you can rely on

Choose two or three clinics that treat your procedure regularly and request consultations, remote or in person.

Give each clinic the same photographs, history and goals, so the estimates describe the same case.

Ask for each estimate in writing with inclusions, exclusions, validity period and cancellation terms.

Compare the estimates line by line rather than by the total, and ask each clinic to explain anything that differs.

Only then decide on a deposit. A deposit paid before a written estimate is a decision made on the wrong information.
