Canthoplasty adjusts the corners of the eyes: epicanthoplasty addresses the inner corner and its fold, lateral canthoplasty the outer corner. Both are frequently discussed alongside double eyelid surgery in Korean clinics. Because the changes are small and permanent, the consultation is where the result is really decided.
Epicanthoplasty typically addresses a fold covering the inner corner; lateral canthoplasty adjusts the outer corner's position or angle. They have different indications, scarring considerations and limits. Ask the surgeon which, if either, they would consider for your anatomy and why.
These procedures are generally described as permanent, and the amount of change is limited by anatomy. Ask what change is realistic, what would look unnatural and how the surgeon protects the corner's function and the tear duct area.
